Racing

A short update: Sunday was a frustrating day—Doug simply didn't have the energy or awareness that he'd had in previous days.  An EEG and CT Scan showed no change, but he just wasn't responsive.  The trach is rescheduled for today and will almost definitely happen, he's had the ventilator tube in for too long.

The only real response they got out of Doug yesterday was that his heart rate went up as the race was ending on the TV.  This got Dan and Jen to thinking that maybe playing cycling videos would have be a good thing.  If anyone has any they can lend for a while, they'd be happy to borrow them to play in Doug's room.  However, there are not going to be any visitors allowed today (Monday).  Doug's just too tired and they want him to rest a bit and hopefully come right back out of this small lapse.

Thanks

    Dear Doug,
You are in our family’s thoughts every day. You share so much positive energy with everyone you meet–we’re glad to send some back your way. Since you graduated WHS our paths don’t cross often, but we’re looking forward to seeing you at upcoming robotics events.

I’ve plenty of race DVDs…I can bring them over. Bike racing is a good remedy!

I just wanted to say that I know from talking to several professionals that there are many inexplicable ups and downs for people in Doug’s condition.

There are many stories of people that made very little progress for days or even weeks and then make a miraculous advance. I guess my message is please don’t get discouraged. There are so many days ahead of us, filled with opportunities for Doug to get better.

Just a short message to let you know that I am praying for your speedy recovery so you can get on your bike and show the world just how great you are. God bless you and your family and may He give you all the patience that you need to get through this as I’m sure you all will!
