Change of Plans

Hi folks,

Just wanted to let you know that Doug will not be leaving the hospital today as planned. The past couple days haven’t been great, so he’s going to stay there another week. There’s nothing wrong, he’s just not quite ready to head home yet.

If you can make it, please swing on by the hospital and let him know he’ll still be out of there in no time. Visiting hours are 4:30 to 8:30 on weekdays, and 11:30 to 8:30 on weekends. Please don’t visit in a large crowd, it’s really best to come one or two at a time. The address is as follows; it takes about half an hour to get there from Center City:

Room 490
Drucker Brain Trauma Center
MossRehab/Einstein
60 East Township Line Road
Elkins Park, Pa, 19027

Also, for everyone out there, especially those not in the area, Doug has been reading back entries on here and keeping up with all your comments.  In addition, he has a new cell phone and can use it in the evenings.  The number is the same one he had before, 267-218-5043.  So even if you can’t physically make it out to the hospital, don’t hesitate to get in touch electronically instead.  I’m sure he’d love to hear from you.

Doug: I know you’ve been itching to go home, but don’t take this delay too hard.  In the long run you’ll still be leaving the hospital much earlier than many of us thought you would.  Just keep on doing what you always do: Chugging along, not giving up, and getting better everyday.  It’ll all work out soon enough.

    Doug and Markgrafs,
Hang in there. Recovery is always 2 steps forward, one back. Doug’s recovery is amazing and will continue to be so. I know this is a huge disappointment but it really is just a delay, not a set back. Doug will be home soon. Let us know if we can do anything to help.

P.S. Zach, are you coming up for the fireworks tonight?

    HI Doug,

I’ve been following your progress via dougtales. I’m glad to see you are doing so much better. I wish you a full recovery. You’ll be on my mind during the ACS ride this weekend. You are an inspiration! You are truly one of the most interesting students I’ve ever taught. Keep up the good work!
