Hey folks,

Just wanted to share the big news—Doug is out of the hospital and at home! He finally got out of there yesterday, and none too soon. Earlier this week the feeding tube and cast were also removed, so it’s just been one big liberating week. As you might guess, Doug’s
in great spirits and doing well. But, please remember that he’s still healing. His body’s working at full speed even if he’s just hanging around, trying to patch everything back together. What that means is that he tires out easy, especially when there’s a lot going on. Just something to keep in mind. If you’d like to visit, and hopefully you can, give the Markgrafs a call on their landline at 215-643-3377. They’d like to sort of space people out so Doug doesn’t get overwhelmed with people all at once.

One other thing I’d like to mention: In a few weeks there’s going to be a Beef & Beer for Doug that his brother Brandon is putting together. Here’s the details:

Date: Saturday August 19
Time: 7:30pm until whenever
Place: Wissahickon Fire House, on Race St in Ambler
Cost: $25 per person or $45 per couple

There will be live music, beer, food, door prizes, and most likely a 50/50 drawing. You can buy tickets from Brandon, Jen, Dan, and Steve B.  Give them a call or email Brandon to get your ticket today!  Last I heard Brandon had one local band coming for sure that he swears is the greatest thing ever, and was working on another.  We’re aiming to have about 130 people there, so it’ll definitely be an awesome time.  We’ll post more info like the specific address as we got closer to the event, and an event it surely will be!

Ok folks, that’s about it for now.  There’s still a long, hard road ahead for Doug even as he keeps getting better and better.  He’s a fighter, but it’s hard to keep up any fight day after day when you feel ok, but just a little weird, and can’t really do a whole lot to speed things up.  So let’s all do what we can to keep his spirits up.  I plan to help mostly by making fun of engineers…  Hopefully I’ll bump into you out there at some point!

– joe
