This just in!

It’s really great to hear that things are going down in the field of neuroscience. I was surfing the ‘tags’ here on WordPress, and ran into a blog of someone else who was writing about a new development in treatment following a brain injury. I checked out the thing, and yeah, it looks good. I mean, I’m no doctor, but if the idea of using it has reached stage III, I know that it’s working.

Basically, some cool people at Emory University have been working with Progesterone (yes, the female hormone) for about 20 years. They have many reasons to believe that the use of progesterone up to eleven hours following the injury will make outcome better, because it has a protective effect on neurons of the brain. It might actually make the death rate lower after a brain injury? I dunno. All I know is that if you’re interested, you should read up on it.
