‘Say NO to TBI’ Bike Ride – May 31

Okay so the name is up for adjustment… I just thought that was funny.

More details about the ride:

Date: May 31st, 2009
Time: How does 10:00am sound to you? I need suggestions here. We can’t start a century any later than this, and the 35 mile riders could be done their ride by as early as 12-12:30!

Start Location: I’d like to start it in or near Philadelphia because a number of us college students don’t have cars to get us to a start location outside the city without tacking distance on top of the 100 miles.  Open to suggestions.  Art museum? Fairmount Park? Drexel Campus?

Ride distance options: There will be options (and ride leaders) for people who would like to ride the relaxing 35-mile route, the metric century (62) mile route, and the full 100-mile route, each of which will start together and have cut-offs. I will try to keep the elevation profile to a minimum for the 62 and 100 mile routes so that I can get more of you to do those!

SAG/Food: There will be snacks/drinks at the 17-mile mark of the route, and the riders doing the 100-miles will either stop for lunch as a group or perhaps another place to stop will be arranged. We’ll do this right! If you get a flat or need assistance, you’ll be covered, too.  🙂

Route: Still up for discussion. I have general ideas here but nothing has been finalized. Let me know what you think you’d like to do for routes.

I know a number of people who have had instances/accidents/run-ins/whatever with vehicles. If you ‘won’ a battle like that, you especially should do this ride!  There’s an idea to also encourage discussion of tips and skills regarding safe riding in urban and suburban settings (where cars/drivers are likely to be problems).

Let’s be positive and optimistic about bikes! I am!
