Start Time: 9:30am
Meetup location: Lemon Hill, at the corner of:
Lemon Hill Dr & W Sedgley Dr
Philadelphia, PA 19130   (see earlier map)

This is in Fairmount Park, near Kelly Drive. Free Parking! (and site of my favorite criterium course) We’ll have some stuff to get you ready for the ride, and tools just in case you need your bike looked at prior to starting.

Routes: a fun, safe and thrilling 35 miles, 63 (if someone wants to do it!), and a glorious, rolling 100-mile century. We’ll have a rest-stop at the point that the 35-mile riders turn off (17 miles), with water, gatorade, and some snacks. The century riders might have another stocked stop, but WaWa’s will be the rest stops otherwise.

The routes are pretty much planned now. It appears that we’ll have a number of people looking to do the 35-mile route (maybe upwards of 15), who will head out with everyone out to Flourtown (using the VF trail for part) and then back to philly. The century riders (complete number of riders is unknown, maybe 6) will ride all the way out to Carversville (Bucks County, near Doylestown I think) and back, which is a rolling course with good roads and only one short, steep hill. I would LOVE to know if anyone plans to do 63 miles, which I will provide cue sheets for if needed. I just don’t know of anyone who plans to do it!

I am hoping that everyone would be willing to donate to Raisin Hope, a foundation that was started by Saul Raisin, another cyclist who has had Traumatic Brain Injury (and was on Credit Agricole pro team). Raisin Hope aims to raise funds for TBI research, help with recovering from Brain Injury, and is a great means for connecting with others who are recovering. Checks can be made out to The Raisin Hope Foundation and given to me before or after the ride on Sunday.

We’ll all ride at a comfortable pace, and nobody will be left behind for any distance. Let’s all celebrate safe cycling! And, help me celebrate my 3rd anniversary of the accident that could have kept me from riding!

ah, hmmm. . . . I was thinking of the 63 miler. But IF I am the only one. . . don’t sweat it – don’t figure it out just for one.
I’ll cut to the shorter route OR *gasp* try for the gusto.

Thanks for commenting. Prepare to do the 63 and we’ll see what happens from there. Are there any other 63 mile riders???

I don’t know if you’re looking to do a headcount, but I’m a random that’s not in any list so far. I’ll be aiming for the 35-miler.

My question: Are we aiming to *start* or *meet* at 9:30? I’m always up silly early anyway – I just don’t want to be the only weirdo who shows up at 9, 9:15 to stretch and BS before we get riding 🙂

See you guys (and meet almost all of you for the first time) on Sunday

    Justin and everyone:

I’m going to aim for everyone to start riding at 9:30. We won’t leave any earlier than 9:30, so that’s the time you should be at Lemon Hill (at the very latest).

Thanks for the question. I look forward to meeting you, Justin.
